Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
