Stu Ungar is regarded by many to the finest No Limit Texas holdem Poker gambler ever.

The three time World Poker Champ was born in New York in ‘53 and started betting poker prior to reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out playing gin and at the age of 10 had won his very first gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the age of fourteen the little poker genius had turned pro and dropped out of school.

In ‘54 Stu entered the record books by winning $10,000 in a gin tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still appears in New York these days.

The fast talking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to sporting greats such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a true talent for wagering poker but despite his achievements in Hold em poker, he preferred wagering gin.

Stu once said that there may some day be a better No Limit Hold’em player than him except he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a greater gin gambler.

In ‘80 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the very best Texas holdem Poker players in the globe when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the 1st time. Astonishingly it was the 1st time he had played in the tournament.

The right after year he dismissed any thoughts that it had been a fluke, by successfully defending his crown. And in 1997 Stu set the record by succeeding his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker legend also battled with drug abuse and a year right after winning his third title Stu past away in his hotel room. According to physicians, he had passed away from cardiac arrest which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu had started with absolutely nothing but his skill and talent for the casino game which made this poker great a millionaire many times over.
