Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
