Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
