Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
