Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
