Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
