Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
