Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
