Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
