Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
