Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
