Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
