Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
