Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
