Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
