Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
