Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
He began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
